Are you trying to have a baby? Men, Beware of diabetes drugs Metformin and its potential side effects!
A new study had found that men’s use of the diabetes drug Metformin for three months before they conceived a child was linked to a 40% higher risk of congenital disabilities in the offspring, according to a study published Monday, March 29, 2022, in the journal “Annals of Internal Medicine.”
The study suggests; If men take Metformin, a common type 2 diabetes drug, during a critical period of sperm development, their offspring may be more likely to develop congenital disabilities, a large study suggests.
The research, based in Denmark, studied more than 1 million births between 1997 and 2016 and compared the risk of major birth defects in babies based on paternal exposure to diabetes medications. Researchers studied only births to women who were between 20 and 34 years old and men between 20 and 40 years old. Babies born to women with diabetes were excluded from the study.
